This starter package for UK businesses includes the following:
- New domain name (using the Getting British Business Online service)
- *Basic Website creation (using above with Google Sites)
- Google account creation
- Gmail set up
- Analytics set up
- Webmaster Tools set up
- Facebook Page
- Twitter Account
- Integration of twitter and website feed with facebook page.
On completion I will provide a handy little guide with tips on what to do with it all.
Q&A
Can I do this myself for free?
Yes, absolutely. Facebook and twitter are free to use, Google tools are free to use and even the domain name is free for the first two years (registered with BT). So you can set everything up yourself for no cost at all.
Will I be able to sell my products online via the website?
This package is for a basic website which will be a ‘shop window’ for your business. It can describe who you are, what you do and how to contact you. It can include a news feed and even a feed that is used to list products but there will be no merchant (selling) tools included. If you accept payment via paypal you can include a link to that but that is as far as the ecommerce ability goes. For an ecommerce site I suggest you speak to one of the many local web design companies.
What will it cost for you to do this for me?
As I mentioned above, all the tools that I will use are free. The charge is for my time in setting it all up for you. The total price is contact me (50% deposit then the remaining 50% payable on completion)
How long will it all take?
In theory all of this can be set up in just one day. I will request that you provide some content for your website (I’ll help you with that) and ask that you are available on the day that your package is being set up because you will need to verify a few things on your mobile.
What about ownership?
The domain name wil be registered in your name and verified with your mobile number. All accounts and profiles will be set up new. Upon completion (and final payment) you will be provided with all addresses, usernames and passwords.
What happens after? Am I on my own?
After care is a very important part of introducing a business to the Internet and I never leave clients high and dry. On completion of the starter package I’ll provide you with a guide that will give you tips and ideas about what you can do with your website and social media profiles. I’ll provide as much after care support as time allows and if necessary will point you in the direction of other services available to you.
You’re an SEO consultant, if I buy this package will I rank high on Google?
I’m afraid it isn’t that simple. First, this isn’t an ‘SEO’ package. It is intended to be an introduction to getting an online presence. That said, I will add content to your website with SEO in mind. for some it is entirely possible that your website will appear in search engines without any need for further optimisation. Examples include searches on your business name or even localised search terms. To demonstrate, the website I created for local job hunters (Jobs Tameside) appeared in Google on page one for a few relevant terms within 3 weeks. I can discuss this further if you get in touch.
