I’ve got a business blog. What now?

You were asked if you had a business blog. They said it was good for SEO. So you start to look into it and someone else tells you a blog is like an online diary. Women share recipes, Alan Titchmarsh writes about gardening, journalists write news stories, fashion writers talk about what Kate Middleton is wearing and Internet marketers write about Google. Scared and confused you start thinking what the heck you would find to write about.

Launch of Manchester SEO

Looking at the SERPs today for ‘Manchester SEO’ and ‘SEO Manchester’ there are a number of results that link to actual websites of various consultants and agencies. There are also several results that link to rubbish. We can see one page sites which were thrown up without much love and attention with the purpose of assisting ranks for a vanity term. And there are neglected blogs where perhaps the owner now works for a larger agency and no longer has the time to maintain it.

Like many SEO’s I buy the odd domain to test certain theories or prove a point. Back in 2009 I registered such a domain which has now served it’s purpose. So rather than taking it down, redirecting it or leaving it to fester and pollute the SERPs with yet another spammy SEO website I would try and make it into something useful. So I recently relaunched it as a website that offers more visibility to existing Manchester SEO Providers with the target market not being other SEO’s but actual clients.

If you are a small business looking for an SEO service it helps to do a bit of background reading to understand what ranking for those keyterms could really mean to your business.

Get Rich Quick with Fast Hosting!

If you seriously think that faster hosting is all it takes to make a successful website you are very much mistaken. Sorry about that.

With every announcement made by Google there comes a stream of updates by service providers who try to use ‘the official word of Google’ to their advantage. Of course they will, it is business afterall.

Website Stats and Analytics – Do you know what it means?

Do any of these sound familiar?

“According to my website stats I get 3000 hits per month but I’m not getting any sales”

“My SEO provider tells me my visits are increasing by 150% each month but I haven’t had any enquiries yet”

So you want to be an SEO?

monkeys-computerIt is said there is no such thing as a stupid question. Which I would agree with. However there is such thing as the “I don’t have it in me to be an SEO” question.

Cactushop Fakelinks (it’s all in the name)

I’m currently working on a clients website that uses CactuShop.  While it claims to be ‘SEO Optimised’, it isn’t the most search engine friendly pieces of OSC shopping cart software I’ve worked with. Although it’s not the worst either.
